Since we're on the theoretical train, what's yalls opinions on multi-dimenions and the string theory?

Anyone seen the movie Mr. Nobody? Its a cool film if youre into metaphysics

I'm agnostic when it comes to aliens. I don't know and don't spend much time thinking about it. If they're real, I seriously doubt they descend from the sky in a UFO and beam people up to give them "probes." That's just paranoia.

I'm as agnostic on this as I am on religion. I am completely willing to accept that there are things out there that we cannot comprehend, but until one of them rolls in and buys me a cup of coffee with demonstrable proof of their credentials, I remain unconvinced. I would not be surprised if we discover other primitive life in our own neighborhood in my lifetime or my children's (the Europa ocean for example). I do not think we have been visited by any intelligent extraterrestrial beings in recorded history, nor do I think they're here now among us. I accept the fermi paradox as a rational explanation for life in the universe in general, and also point to it as the reason I do not think we've met anyone else. And if we do, they're going to be incredibly advanced technologically to survive long enough to get here from ANYWHERE. That will probably not be good for us, so I hope we as a species remember our manners if it happens...

My major in college was philosophy. The movie sounds cool!

I also tried to read Stephen Hawking's book about string theory, A Brief History of Time. It is very heavy and very counter-intuitive.

I dragged myself through it, and you're totally right. I mean, I get the concepts he was talking about at a macro level, but dude was waaaaaay to much brain for me to keep up with.

Ha I tried to listen to listen to several of his audiobooks but couodnt get into them and The Elegant Universe by Brian Greene was like a foreign language haha..

As far as Aliens go... DMT The Spirit Molecule by Rick Strassman is an awesome audiobook. It has a lot of data in the read but if you can bare with the data its a fun read just for the fact the US Gov allowed for him to do DMT testing and alot of the participants saw lizard people and aliens lol..

Also Food of the Gods by Terence Mckenna is a crazy read, and the theory of the garden of eden and the fast advancement of our species due to psilocybin mushrooms made for a good read.

Gobekli Tepe: Genesis of the gods by Andrew Collins is a super bizarre and nutty read when he talks about the secret society, but as far as the astroid theory goes and the 12,000 year old advanced civilization part about Gobekli Tepe was really cool

Why wouldn’t we explore and try to expand our knowledge and our world? Why stay stuck on this ball of rock? There is soooo much out there we don’t know. Heck, there’s so much HERE, on this planet, that we still don’t know. Most of the Earth and especially the ocean is still unexplored to this day. Should people stop exploring and studying Earth too? Because we know it all? Should people hundreds of years ago not have sailed the oceans and discovered all the “new” lands we’re now living on today? We’ve always been about exploration and discovery and new horizons and I fail to see how space is any different. Because some 2,000 year old book says so? I believe in God but I ALSO believe it is incredibly naive and arrogant to put Him in a box. To say that there are things He cannot do. Especially since many sing about how He can do anything. Also the Bible does not mention everything. And also there were scientists and astronomers back then too and I am sure they are also mentioned in it. If God didn’t want us to explore, why would He have made so many stars? Given us the tools to advance ourselves And our knowledge?

Good points Dawg! Lots of people have read the Bible and found reference to aliens. There are the “wheels” of Ezekiel, the daughters of men having children with gods, a third of the angels being cast out of heaven etc. Some believe aliens are demons! Their are also older books than the Bible. For myself I prefer to read more widely

It's all very very weird as far as I'm concerned. Scientists don't know everything. Quite why they're trying to figure out how the universe was created and what so called life forms are living there is beyond me. I know how the universe was created and I'm not a scientist, I just happen to have read the most read book in the world which explains it well.

@KingB, that is the best answer I have read on this weird thread. I own that book, too, and it's one of my favorites!
