When you say “life”, do you mean life in general (living things) or intelligent life? Because if you mean living things there are places here in the solar system that could support some forms of life, like Europa, for example. If you mean intelligent life we really need to concentrate on finding some here first.

Also, I don’t think, we’ll ever know if life exists in other galaxies. Star systems sure, but the nearest galaxy is 25,000 light years away. Our nearest star neighbor is a little over 4. That’s still 25 quadrillion mile, so make sure you hit the bathroom before leaving.

They put toilets on rockets , we'll be fine if we advance far enough to travel that far in space. It's just oxygen, pressurization, food, & water that's important. Not to mention those who can fix things if anything breaks down.

Not that type of exotic. Exotic as in not normal for earthly lifeforms. Other worldly.
