Do you dislike the word "Lockdown"??? - Poll

I think you're crazy, and I appreciate having that option to vote for... i don't think it's a NICE term, but it's helpful in that if you don't know what to do at lockdown, you can kind of imagine, just based on the word...

Don't like the term, especially its use in schools since it originally was a prison term. Not a good message to send. Be that as it may, I can't think of a good alternative. Students in rural schools tend to get very squirrely during lockdowns. "What's going on? I wanna see! I gotta use the bathroom! Whaddaya mean I can't leave? Do they want me to pee in here? Whaddaya mean if I really have to?"

Although I did some methods teaching at an urban school. They went into lockdown a few times a week and it was no big deal for them. The student closest to the door just got up and locked it, sat back down and got back to work. Most of those lockdowns weren't school related. Mostly it was things like drugs were found in a car pulled over in front of the school or there was a high speed chase going on in the city and they locked down just in case the drivers went by the school, that kind of thing.
