Did you mean this to be as condescending as it came across? I hope not.

He wasn't being condescending. Just a point of view is all. Let's all watch "Mash".

I took it as such...

If we're going to broach the subject of morality, I don't recall anywhere that it says....

"Love thy chicken, as you would love thyself"

Not sure I would taste as good with teriyaki sauce...

Actually my question was more of a statement........it was them....I remember reading in disgust. I'm sure we all know the commercial problems with animals of all kinds is much more widespread. They say people get caught less than 10 % of the time.

I would rather raise them humanely and kill them humanely. I know I can't do vegetarian.....I tried and I just couldn't do it. I admire those who can......it's a nice idea.....I just like meat.

So now I can see the path I will be on and I will narrow my choices to those meats that are available to me naturally like venicen, chicken and fish. Oh.....and EGGS, YAY

And BTW, if I spoke out of place to anyones post........it was unintentional and I apologize.

That chicken in your avatar looks as if it has been debeaked? Did you get it that way or did you inflict that painful mutilation on your loved one? Just curious....

I think each of us love our chickens in different ways....some of us just happen to love how they taste!

I became a vegetarian 12 years ago, and I've had chickens as pets for a few months.

I'm one of those people who can't get the images of cows that I see in a trailer on the freeway on the way to the slaughter house out of my mind for days after I see them. I hate that any living thing has to be put through being killed. It's almost too much for me to bear thinking about it sometimes. It's pretty disturbing how some people seem to get off on killing animals too.

Having said all that though, some of my greatest friends are meat eaters and hunters. The one thing I knew going into the whole vegetarian thing was that I always ate meat and was never disrespected for it. When I decided to stop eating meat, I knew I was a minority amongst my family and friends and I needed to respect their decision to eat meat as much as I wanted respect for not wanting to eat meat. I would much rather see everyone raising their own animals for meat and ending this God forsaken, horrifying worldwide practice of factory farming. The torture and waste is just too much for me to think about. I see people on tv throwing frozen chickens out of a canon ball or something and I just feel sick about the life lost, and the waste. People who raise their own meat animals, for the most part I'm sure, treat their animals very well and take a lot of pride in doing so. All of us deserve respect no matter what our positions are on certain issues. In MY perfect world though, we would all be eating anything BUT meat! ALL of us, meat eaters and non-meat eaters alike, instead of focusing on one another, should get together to educate people on how HORRIBLE factory farming, etc. really is. Oh, and I am not one of the people contributing to rooster death because I find homes for them...homes where they are kept as pets. I'm so thankful I've been able to do that. Thanks for bringing up the subject, and thanks to you all for reading what I have to say. Oh, and no need to ask me what I'm gonna' do if one of my chickens needs to be put down, because I will tell you now.

I'll be at the vet watching the pink liquid flow from the syringe...for me...that is the only way. I just pray someday that there will be a way to put an animal under anesthesia before they are slaughtered...I also wish there was a good spay/neuter program for all of the deer!

What would be wrong with hunters running around with contraceptive darts instead of bullets? Laugh if you must! I know you are! All of my friends do!

Vegetarians and meat eaters alike on this forum-you're all a fun, caring, informative bunch of people, and I'm glad I found you!
