Do you ever feel like a thief?

My birds seem to want to make sure that I know they laid an egg (I wish they didn't announce every single one!), so I thank them for the eggs too. I just thought I was weird, now I find that so other people do it too. I guess I'm in good company.

I have 1 daily layer and 4 more almost there, my 1 daily layer always comes in and tells me "see my pretty egg" followed by the four others yelling "nut-uh It was me mommy really!" I hope this means there getting close!!

I may be saying "sorry sorry sorry" while I'm taking their eggs but I'll be saying "thank you thank you thank you" all the way to the house with them. Oh, and I talk to my chickens all the time. Doesn't matter if I'm alone with them or not. Most days I'm alone all day, just me the dog and now my 27 birds. Life is good!! I am well blessed.

It's what earns their keep. Of course, even if they didn't lay any eggs, I would still keep them!

And unless they are broody, I don't think they care whether you take their eggs or not. They'll just go and lay another one the next day.

), when one of the girls lays and egg and I'm there to witness it, when they lay it and get out of the nest box I'll say, in a very babyish voice

, "Aw, good girl! What a pretty pretty egg you laid! Thank you!"

Haha I know, crazy right?

What can I say, I love my girls, especially when they give me eggs!

And also, my family must think I'm crazy because I say good night to each and every one of the chickens, by name.

I'll be like, "Good night, Hope, May, Jasmine, Pumpkin, and Ivory!"

Oh the joys of raising chickens.

They're the best pets ever! I would prefer having them as pets more than having a dog or cat, lol
