Do you ever stop smiling?

I always get excited over eggs, and always make sure i thank my girls for them too

I always smile when I see one, and then I am thankful that none of the hens got sick or died trying to lay it. Egg making and laying really is a miracle, as far as I'm concerned, and one that I never want to take for granted.

Yesterday we got our first egg [three actually] and then one this morning. Hubby lost his job, things are bad. But I am like a kid in a candy store when I found those eggs, then another this morning. First time ive smiled much in weeks.

My Red Stars are almost 2 years old and it still never gets old.

I even praise my girls and give them a treat when I find more than 8 eggs in the coop for the day.

Yep...I still LOVE seeing those eggs laying in that nest. I thank them at the end of the days with treats of some sort.

Of course...it takes a treat to get them back into the coop...but I like to think it's a thank you for a job well done!

I was giddy. Especially when my oldest hen started laying. Then I got really excited when she went 3 weeks laying an egg a day. Then....she went broody and is sitting on an empty nest doing nothing.

My other two girls are only a little over 4 months old. I'm pining away waiting for more eggs.

I spoil them rotten with special snacks just to say thanks also!

If an average hen lays 200++ eggs each year, I must be beyond that 4,000 mark

Yes, I'm pleased finding every egg. There's nothing better for breakfast, unless it is for lunch, or dinner

This pleasure with the birds may be partly because I've never had more than 10 hens (currently have 4). They are little trouble, little expense, very appreciative of my care, and very generous.
