Do you expect extras?

It seems to be the norm when buying hatching eggs to receive extras. That being said do you buy them with the expectation that extras will be included even if it's not stated in the listing? For example if you buy a dozen eggs do you just assume you'll receive 14 or 8 for a half dozen? Just something I was sitting here wondering about.

I only expect it if it is advertised as extras. If it's not advertised that way and I still get extras then I dance a jig

No I dont expect extra, but its always nice. Even if the ad states may include extras if they are laid, I still dont expect them. If I pay for 12 eggs I want 12 eggs though. Sometimes Im glad they dont send extras. I normally hatch with broody hens, so if I order 9 eggs and they send 14 I have to find a person willing to take the extras I dont have room for.

Thanks for asking this, I am curious as to what is expected, what is the norm. I am new to selling eggs through the mail, I'd hate to be thought of as a cheapskate if I only send the amount I promised.

Now, if I happen to have a few extras that will fit in the box and available while I'm packing, and especially if it's a flat-rate box, I will put them in. And usually tell the buyer that they're being included as extras. But sometimes, especially if it's goose or duck eggs, things of which I have a limited supply, there just might not be any extras available to send, even if I wished. So I just send the amount agreed upon, and I would hope that would be satisfactory.

Me as a seller, ALWAYS send extras, I feel it is only common coursteous, I would never ask a seller to send extras, but I feel as tho they should. But thats me.............

As a seller I'd feel guilty if I didn't include any. Like someone else said like a cheapskate. Although I never thought about someone not wanting them due to using broodies. Maybe I should start asking if it's ok to send them.

As a buyer I appreciate extras and love getting them. I'll admit I'm a little dissapointed if I don't get an extra egg. I know I shouldn't be but I am. I guess because I always send 2-4 extras sometimes more. I too would never ask a seller to send them. It just that when I'm unwrapping and get to number twelve I don't stop looking. I fish around the box hoping there will be another one. Kinda like a box of chocolates.

I think part of why to send extras is that eggs are fragle, and there's a chance the PO will scramble a few, so if you send 14 instead of 12 there's 2 that can cover minor losses. I've seem my UPS guy litterly DROP box of computer parts on my concrete patio and walk off.

I always include extras with my eggs. Usually 1-2 extras for the call duck eggs depending on how many the girls give me, and usually 1-3 extras or more for the chicken eggs, again depending on what the girls give me. I dont include extras for goose eggs though.

If I see a seller advertising 8+ or 10+ eggs, yes I do expect an extra egg or 2.
