do you feed lentils and split peas raw

Pepper??

I have fed lentils and have both split peas and chick peas to feed now. All are appreciated.

For the chickens, I put these with their scratch and some water in their rice cooker. After 20 minutes, this is one popular treat!

My understanding is that peas have far less antinutrients than kidney beans and soybeans. Therefore, heating is not quite as important in making them digestible for the birds.

Pepper?

peppers?

I made salad and give all the scraps to the chickens... they also happen to like left over waffles with syrup and fried rice stirfry with soysauce... I know my silkies are asian now!

My understanding is same as Steve's, that you're unlikely to run into much problem feeding them raw (whereas beans, some in particular but really all of them) ought to be roasted or boiled first.
