Growing up, we would feed field corn right off of the cob to the chickens as a treat. Now, these days it seems like everything is cracked. With the rize in feed prices, I am thinking about growing some field corn. But I don't own or know of anyone who owns a cracker.

Your thoughts are appreciated.

What about Indian Corn. I always grow enough to use for deocrating in the fall, then I never know what to do with it. It should be fine, correct?

My neighbor, who is in her 70s gives her chickens whole dry corn in the winter time, and that's it. I know a lot of people would give her a hard time over it, but she's had chickens forever, and that's what she has always done. She gives them a mix of layer mash and corn in the summer.
