Do you get the same reaction when you tell *why* you have chickens?

The ones who have eaten my chicken don't say anything anymore other than, "when are you getting some more?"

I get it all the time - one is why put up with the mess that the chickens make? Why be tied down having to feed/water/ and put in at night and out in morning? and really your going to eat that? And is it really worth it?

I just laff at them all - and tell them that they already know I am a little crazy so why is this so shocking. and heck my kids love having the chickens - we ate our first one the other night with company and it was AWESOME!!!!
they say what you should do with the skeptics is go buy your store chicken and have one of your own prepared the exact same way and let them decide what one is better. we arent in it to save money just for the fun of raising them and then the good eats when you are done!!

we get this ALL the time. especially since we milk twice a day (goats not chickens!) i just look at them like they have lobsters growing out of their ears. generally these are the people who have devoted their lives to their kid's softball/basketball/volleyball/whatever and cant/wont come and visit us b/c they have a game. but then i get the business from them b/c we have livestock and are on a schedule and no cant just drop everything to come running to see them.

yes its worth it and wow i'm glad i dont have their grocery bill! both my husband and i are off work and the only reason we arent eating dirt is b/c we can grow our own food. people are crazy.​

I have found that the same in laws who turn up their noses at my "funny looking" eggs won't eat my white, yellow, orange, green, or black heirloom tomatoes either.
I say, more good stuff for me!
