Do you guys name your chicks?

I have 17 chicks right now, and I dunno how you guys remember your names even for 5... they change soo much everyday I never know who is who... I guess once they are full grown it would be easier... right now I have 2 names, and only because they are significantly different from the others... one is " Red 5 " ( shes black and has a red/orange head and neck ) and the other is " Ginger " shes very light brown/dark blonde almost... my baby Pekins names are ... ." Darkwing & Duck " hahah... Im sure Ill come up w/ others as they grow, but I doubt ill come up with 17 names for all of them... I would never remember if I did...

Most of mine have names. Two dark Brahma hens, Frick and Frack, and Frack's baby, Casey. One Light Brahma roo, Rocky (used to have Rocky 2 and Rocky 3 but they have since been rehomed). Lemon Pyle Brahma, Buttercup (her babies Peanut Butter, Butterscotch, and I'm still working on other "butter" names). We have Romeo, Chrissie, Cindy, Puffy, Maria, Ebony, Bertha, Angel, Shadow, Bucky, Domino, Fallie, Jackie (was Jack but had to be renamed), Dot, GiGi, Gizmo, and I'm sure I'm forgetting some off the top of my head.

We also have about 20 youngsters who haven't earned names yet. We have one broody sitting on an egg - the egg is already named Solo, since he's an only child.

Oh my mama hen is named "Mama", The RIRs are also named Wormy my little brother called one that and now he can't tell them apart

he loves carrying them around like a cat or something.
My 3 Brown Leghorns I'm going to name and any chicks from the latest hatch I planned on naming, esp. my EEs.

My old Mille Fleurs were named Mary Pekins, Lulu, and Delly Peep. Now we have Princess (white leghorn), Mae (RIR), Yoshi (BPR), Penny (RSL), Buffy (BO), and Holly (EE). I like having one of each, I can tell them apart.

I name mine, but they are like my pets... and I plan on training them to do tricks when they are older.
I have two Rhode Island Reds named Lucy and Rosie, and two Plymouth rocks named Stella and Gwen.
Although Stella may be a Stan...

Mine have trained me to do tricks like the "don't come out here without any treats" trick! My "house chicken" pecks on the front door when she wants to come in and lay her egg under the kitchen table in her own personal dog bed, then she goes back to the door and clucks to get let out.

All 15 of mine are named and I am the only one that can tell the 2 BO's apart the kids do okay but I know each chicken and their personality the one's I have problems wait are my 2 new Black Austolapo's one is now wearing a band so I can tell them apart.

I consider various names for the chicks but don't get too settled on them until they're old enough to show me their personalities. EXCEPT for any solo RIR pullet - she HAS to be named Rhoda.

(And is.)

In addition to those named in my signature line, I have four chicks in the brooder: two Silver Sebright chicks, so THEY are very hard to name, as I have no idea when I'll know if I have pullets or roos or both. Right now, one of them seems to be named "Alice," though. If Alice turns out to be a boy, the name will change to Alex. No clue yet for a name of the other one. I also have 1 black bantam Cochin, think she's a pullet, no name yet. One buff Brahma, no name yet.

While I don't name my chickens myself, I do name my cats & dogs. I have always had female cats and they always have male names. My current cat is named Mortimer, and before her there was George II and George I before that.
They always look like boys until the kittens come......
