Oh yes, here too! With the exception that our LR has been ripped to shreds since last Sept and we have FINALLY painted the walls? So people who come over have to muddle through our construction!!!!!!

yep I hate house work, but there is so much of it Grrr
The bathroom is getting moldy, the floors are dirty, the clothes basket is overflowing with dirty clothes but I just can't be bothered doing it. If I do it will only look the same as it does now, Tomorrow.
I need a house work fairy. Housework is so boring I'd rather sit at my computer and read the BYC forum.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to get motivated to do the house work? Some days I'm better, I will do it but it takes my Hubby complaining that he has no socks or undies to get me going.

I usually crank the stereo with some Aerosmith and get going. Drives the kids nuts but the job gets finished and everyone sort of enjoys it...

Truthfully - if you need motivation to do housework, try this trick:

1. Make a list of 10 things to do in two rooms.
2. Set the oven/stove timer for 20 minutes.
3. Pick the quickest thing on the list and RUN.
4. Move as fast as you can for 20 minutes working down the list.
5. At 20 minutes, STOP. Don't continue. Come back to BYC (or your book, or your tv show...) and enjoy for 20 minutes.
6. Begin again, after the 20 minute hiatus.

You'll be surprised how fast you move when you know you're being "timed" and that it won't be long until you're back on "vacation". It's kind of fun, silly, but fun.

I don't sweat it, but I do a little as I go.

When I clean up after preparing a meal, I wipe something down, maybe the front of the dishwasher today, maybe the wall behind the stove tomorrow, whatever is waving at me. Bathrooms are easy. I keep a spray bottle in the shower, and after a shower, before I get out, I spray things down. I clean the sink after I brush my teeth -- if I see something yukky. Clothes get washed when I want to wear something and it is in the laundry basket. Floors get dust mopped when I see dust bunnies or loose stuff somewhere (it's often pine bits I've tracked in from the coops.) Vacuuming is the hardest for me; can't believe how much pet hair I get when I finally get motivated to do it. If I spill something, I wet mop the whole kitchen; I seem to do this often enough.

As long as I have clean areas to prep meals, I don't get excited. If you are doing laundry for several people, just do a load every day til there isn't enough to wash. Anyone can get through one load.

The house will never be clean all the time. Find your comfort level, and poke away at it, a little at a time.

Or go on an Aerosmith cleaning spree. I don't have the energy for that any more, but I used to do that. (Not Aerosmith, though.)

I have company coming in 3 days for my daughters wedding and my house looks like C**P! The dogs and cats are all shedding, there are guinea keets in my bathroom, and I keep telling myself I'll do it tomorrow!

It's only my 2 sisters staying with me, but still I can't get my butt in gear.

Most days I wish I had the energy to take everything out of my house, paint and scrub and reseal the wood floors, then only put 1/4 of the stuff back in. Have a big sign out front "FREE STUFF". Its not even worth having a yard sale around here.

I never cleaned up for my sister coming. She was much worse than I am. And our mother was worse yet -- an elegant lady to all appearances, dusted tables daily, but she cleaned behind couches or dressers only when she bought a new one....
