do you have any SECRETS to make our coop better?

This is a great question! I've got my cooped all framed right now and I'm trying to decide on things like roosts, brood boxes and feeding/watering.

So far the ideas that I have used are:

-A "trap door" along the floor of one wall to sweep out litter.
-Part of the coop sectioned off for storing food and egg access without traipsing through poop.
-Flood light outside the coop.
-Lots of windows for natural light and ventilation.
-Coop is positioned up-hill from the flower garden so that run-off will be "fertile."

That's all I can think of and I don't think it really addresses your question but I'm really curious what other people have to say.

We spent last weekend setting the posts, concrete, and the run.

We live in Hereford AZ (southern) So we are WARM. No snow in the winters.

I also am a big fan of clean and they told me to invest in some stuff to put in the coop and feed that will keep the smell and dust under control. Can't think of what it is called right now but I will hunt it down and give you name in a bit!

Here is the forum it might all help but the 3rd page has the product!

WOW- :yayour advice is very helpful and I am going to use it! We live in sunny southern AZ, so the winters aren't bad...but I am happy to hear a few tell me about the more windows the better...... It makes sense, I just hadn't given it much thought! I will adjust the plans ASAP!

As for the drinking water...I have the general waterer, do I need to get the automatic types?
