Do you have LIFE INSURANCE???

I've heard about the pre-planning funeral. That's good to have.

Unless years down the road the company you bought the pre paid funeral from goes bankrupt or something....something to think about

I have 90k of life insurance through my employer, no health screening needed for that amount.

True, but this company is very reputable and been around for 100 years LOL!

I would suggest you start your research by getting free online life insurance quotes. Term life insurance is definitely the best option for you if you’re looking for temporary insurance—make sure you buy enough coverage so that your family could pay off all your debts, have savings for future expenses such as college tuition for the kids, and remember to include your funeral costs.
Don’t rely totally on life insurance from DH’s employer. Employer life insurance is usually not enough to meet all your life insurance needs and is not portable which means if your DH were to leave his job tomorrow, the insurance would be gone too. It’s better to have an independent life insurance policy—it’s cheap enough and you’ll find affordable life insurance online.

Get your insurance while the premium is low - very important!! The premiums will only increase, and insurability will become more difficult due to health and age. Lock in the highest amount with the longest term you can afford. For example, $150,000 for 30 years. If you find a plan that is convertible to a permanent plan (ask!), get the highest benefit you can afford now ($300,000 or so) When it is time to renew or convert, you can always lower the benefit, if needed, to better afford, but increasing the benefit later will be difficult if health issues have developed.

A small amount of insurance is better than none. If you can only afford a $25,000 policy now, get it. You might not be able to afford any later as premiums increase.

If you don't mind the intrusiveness of the exam (blood work, vitals, etc...) get a fully underwritten policy. As long as you are healthy, you will probably pay much less. The insurance company pays for the exam and it is done at your convenience, at your location of choice, by a nurse.

If you have children, and little money, get the insurance for them. They will need it if you are not here to provide for them.

I'm an agent. If you need help, feel free to private message me. I have a 10 year convertible (to permanent) $300,000 policy that I pay $18 and some change each month.

The younger you are the cheaper it will be. You should check to see if you can get it through your employers. It may be cheaper there. You may get a deal if you include it with your homeowners/rental and car insurance carrier.

Oh and don't forget a will.

I wish you well,

Hello! If you have car, homeowners (or rental) insurance with the same company, check there to see if they have life insurance. Often times, you get discounts on one or the other if you buy from the same place.

Age is a big factor, and health, of course. My hubby and I just signed up for life ins because our old policy wasn't working for us anymore. We both work, and if either one of us died, we would be up crap-creek without a paddle!

Anyhow, term would probably be the lease expensive. There are also policies that actually pay dividends....Those are good if you buy one for the kids when they're little...Then as adults the can cash them in or convert them to better insurance....

I'm going with Allstate, same place we have our home and auto ins.

We have to pass a physical though, and we're both overweight, so I'm not sure how that will go......

I also take some meds for anxiety.....We might be turned down.......? I have no idea.

Your bring up the most important point regarding life insurance - it is not for your benefit, it is for the benefit of those you love (kids, family, spouse, etc.)

You will probably be "rated" but don't let it discourage you. Check around with other companies to find the best price, and lock in your rates - once you purchase a policy, don't let it cancel. I also suggest one of the online comparative raters. I'm an agent, and that was the way I also found mine. I bought from a company that I wasn't even representing because it was a better deal
