Do you *have* to mix VetRX with water?

I read all the directions that comes with it and whatnot.. but I have read on BYC (can't find the threads now though :/) that you can just dab some on the nostrils of the bird to help them breathe. Can you just dab a tiny bit of straight VetRX on there? (Nothing IN their nose!) Or do I really have to mix it with the water and such? It's only for two of my chickens who could use it- I know it's not a cure and whatnot.

I will not "administer" until I receive some answers, just to be safe!

I am not familiar with VetRX... that said, some questions to ask about if that alternative method would work include:

What is the drug and what is the mechanism of action?

and

How does said drug enter the system? Inhalation, transdermal, digestive tract?

The answers to those questions would answer if the alternative method can work.
