I have two bantams.. One hen and one rooster.
She has 7 eggs. she is currently laying on them.
Should I take the rooster out of the cage so she
can successfully lay and hatch her eggs.
What will happen if i leave the rooster in the cage with her?
Will he eat the chicks/>? I have no clue on this area...

Second, no you don't need to separate him. He won't eat the chicks either - In fact, a lot of roosters turn into really good dads, and may even take care of the chicks with mommy. Some will actually huddle over the chicks, or huddle over both the chicks and the hen.

WOW!
I had no idea. Thank you so much.
The rooster is really cute. He goes and lays with her...Tries to keep her company!
But I think he is lonely

cause at night he has to roost all alone LOL..poor lil' guy!

I tried Googling this topic and could find nothing. So I appreciate your help!

I agree with what Illia said, with one qualification. Some roosters, mainly immature roosters, won`t leave a broody hen alone and seem to think they should continue to mount them. Be sure to be aware of any such action from your rooster. If he won`t leave her alone, move him..........Pop

My girls kept picking on my younger rooster so I put him in his own area. But he keeps running back and forth, looking like he is trying to get over with the girls. They, the girls, pecked so much at him that they pecked all the pin feathers off his little back and his fanny. Now he has a naked area. Will these feathers grow back? I heard if I left him in the cage with the girls, they would peck him to death. Is this true?

Yup, They`ll eat him alive. To solve the problem, pen him seperately til he matures, perhaps all summer, then after he has become a man, put him back with them. The problem is his immaturity..........Pop
