My ducks go to bed with my chickens every night. In fact, they panic if they can't get in the coop. The also sleep under the chickens roosting, so it does create a bit of a problem with them getting covered in poo. I do have a drake, but I figure the chickens do have the roosts to escape him if he were to try anything. So far, he hasn't. Thy are really only in the coop to sleep so I don't think they are thinking about mating...yet. He's still pretty young though.

Somehow my ducks never get poop on them. They sleep under the roosts of 60 chicken fluffy butts. At least 60 chickens dropping those stink bombs.

Sorry I should have put that I have 1 male and 1 female.

And my Muscovy's don't roost they sleep on the floor.

Ok, yeah most of mine do .. I have a large shelf where the can, they roost outside too. Mainly the girls however but a boy will on occasion inside but i keep the males penned separately at night, with the exception of the one who has his duck overight.

I think personality of the drake, probably comes into play, i am fairly sure my one guy wouldn't the other not so sure but it's still a caution that has to be taken under consideration because of the deadly consequences.

i didnt raise my current "flock" but i have 5 rhode island reds and two pekin duck (male and female). at first i had the ducks in their own pen.. but i wanted to have them with the chickens because the coop is much safer than the temporary coop they had. the ducks being very shy pick a corner and sit away from the chickens and at night when my chickens begin to roost ill round the ducks into there and then its a riot..

the ducks yell the chickens yell and stay as far as they can from each other. i expected some controversy, but with the chickens being matured and the ducks almost completly matured will this go away and them learn to co exist?

We have three drakes, two ducks, and two bantam hens. They were all in the same house on the same level all winter long "overnight only", and we did not have a problem except with feed and water. My daughter likes to feed them before bed and she would have to do it by reverse pecking order. Then everyone basically was full and ready to sleep.

Two drakes are bullies, and one hen is also. They were last to be fed and put to bed. When spring came, my daughter just left the drakes out and they went in the shed with the goats. Currently, she does not put anyone up. They all sleep where they want.

We have a few dog pens all connected to make a giant 6ft high chainIink fence. In there we have the birds, two goats and a potbelly pig. For the most part they live happily together. Occasionally, our khaki drake will beat up our pig, but that is the biggest issue we have. I think all can be well as long as protection is provided from each other when they are getting to know one another, and also from predators. I have learned that I do not like all drakes. Out of our three, one is good.

Best wishes!

yes all together . chickens get the roost bar and nest boxes .. ducks have a nest on the floor in one corner and the geese will have a nest on the floor in another corner.

the geese are only 2 weeks old so they are only in the yard w the rest when i supervise it - for like 20 min at a time .

my Pekins have always stayed white lol idk how as the nest is under the roost but they do :)

also when they are all locked up during the day sometimes -they all have the floor - no problem either .

i have 14 barred rock pullets (15-16wks?) , 3 female Pekin ducks (12ish wks), and 2 female American Buff Geese( 2wks)

my chickens go in to roost by themselves at 7-730 pm ... my ducks however would stay outside all night if i let them lol .. so at 7:30 i go and tell them to "get in the house.. its bed time!" and they go . lol hopefully it'll be that easy w the geese...
