Greetings wonderful pidgie and dove people!

I volunteer with a San Francisco-based group called Palomacy, which rescues and rehomes unreleasable (domestic) pigeons and doves. If you don't already know about Palomacy, please look at the website! (http://www.pigeonrescue.org/)

On behalf of the organization, I am gathering information about pigeon and dove-friendly rescues, rehabilitators, and vets. As many of you probably know, there are rescues and SPCA branches that are unable or unwilling to help these birds. People often have trouble locating local help when they find injured or orphaned pigeons and doves.

If you know of any pidge and dove-friendly organizations or individuals, I would so greatly appreciate it if you could let me know about them, so I can check them out and include this information on the Palomacy website!!
Thank you so much in advance!

What you are doing is awesome! I work a lot in animal rescue, and it is difficult but rewarding work for sure.

Sorry I can't be of help, where I live there aren't many bird specialized rescues.

Best of luck!

Do any of you have vets that will treat your pigeons and doves? (not all will).
Sorry I don't have any info for you. Palomacy is the only US pigeon rescue I have heard of. My usual vet is afraid of birds(or maybe just pigeons:confused:) and warned me she would not treat them. She will do fecal tests if I want.

Orphaned pigeons over 5 days old(after they have received the crop milk from their parents) are relatively easy to hand raise.

I like this site for info on pigeon health problems...
