I got this roo at my local feed store. They told me he is a Cream Legbar. By researching Cream Legbars on the internet and looking at the pictures of roos I really don't think that is right. The other day I found some pics of a breed which is a cross of two different kind of chickens, all the roos of this kind looked just like him. For the life of me I can't remember what it was. I think it might have been a RIR crossed with something else. It said the reason why they do that is because, it makes them more durable and makes them really good dual purpose birds. I also remember the kind of bird I think he is a brown egg layer. For the life of me I can't remember what it was. Can anyone tell me what he is. This will teach me to trust the breed knowledge of the local feed store.

Thanks any help is appreciated,
Michelle;)

Okay it is hard to see in the pictures but, he has really light yellow in his saddle and hackle feathers with a light barred design.

Again thanks;)

Cream Legbars aren't even available to the common US citizen, so, no.

He's a Sexlink rooster. I think they gave you their throwaway chicks, since sex-links are sexable at birth. Still, he is pretty!

Thanks I think you are right. I am sure that is what they were doing they were selling 8 roos of the same breed.

Thanks again,
MIchelle

Sexlink roosters can vary, but most commercial varieties are white with light to dark yellow in the saddle and hackles, and light to dark red in the shoulders.

Black Sexlinks differ in having barring, too.
