Do you know why there are brown eggs? I do

Most of my customers don't want any white eggs. I have to eat them myself or stick a few in cartons for people that don't care.
I have some Middle Eastern customers that won't eat a white egg.
I have friends from India that never saw a brown egg before coming here.

I also have a friend that's a nurse and won't eat my eggs. She said it's because she saw the chickens.

She also didn't know a rooster was a male chicken.
She said she knows everything about medical stuff but nothing else. I didn't think it was possible to become an adult and not know what a rooster was unless you grew up on another planet.

I just can't believe how many ignorant people there are!

We had teenagers doing Community Service hours at the community gardens.
Told one young man to push the wheelbarrow over to the compost pile.
"Ma'am, where is it?"
"Go down this pathway, turn left at the cornstalks and you will see the piles"
I said. "It's only about 20 feet that way" and I pointed.

"Ma'am, what do cornstalks look like?"

My DH was told by someone last year, while discussing how we wanted to get chickens, that breasts were the only edible part of chickens.

With as many KFC commercials and stores around? I'm hoping he was stating a personal preference rather than an actual belief. *boggle*

Actual belief, sadly.

Husband tried explaining, and the guy just wasn't buying it.

I just always thought the brown eggs were white ones that took a little detour.

I love it when I hear this... you MUST have a rooster, or no eggs. I just love explaining how hens are "like us" where they are born with all the eggs they'll lay, no rooster needed. Female humans still "drop eggs" on a regular basis, "rooster" or no!

It just amazes me...

When we first got our chicks in March, my mom, who GREW UP ON A FARM, asked how were we going to get any eggs without a rooster. She kept insisting that we had to have a rooster to get any eggs. Needless to say, that's why she's a "city girl" now.
