wont ever have children of the human type, and the nearest to that-sisters girl/the niece is only six months old and her only favourite tunes up to now are some sort of wild life song on her fisherprice play gym thing and nursery rhymes.

mum always hated mine, used to be seriously into music years ago, most types apart from pop/vocal stuff/screamy-shouty stuff but was especialy into specialist dance and lots of metal, rock etc sub genres, inc the old stuff.
had had turntables for years as had loved to 'feel' and mix music, racks full of vinyl-all specialist dance and some old soul and rap, lots of rareities.
have not been able to listen to music for some years due to developing profound hyperacusis, still have all the vinyl but had gave all cds away.
personaly hate dads/mums music-known as bogger music in ireland for some reason, its country music-aisla grant, big tom etc-whiny crap in own view but they like it and am not here all week.

Though they don't mind what I listen to, my mom hates most of what I like.

One thing we both have in common about music however is that we all hate new mainstream crap.

Two teenage sons--I like their music for the most part. I listen to just about everything. Now I will say if they listened to heavy rap there could be an issue. It is probably the only music that I really don't care for. My sons even have had me listen to some screamo stuff that I couldn't even understand and they explained it to me as we like the bass and riffs and don't really care about the words with this one so much.

I think I get more pumped for the concerts then my boys do...

my concerts I have attended with my kids:
Metallica (my middle childs first concert)
Three Days Grace - twice (was my oldest sons first concert)
Bullet for my Valentine
Seether
Art of Dying
Motley Crue (my daughters first concert)
Poison
Avenge Sevenfold
Metric
Linkin Park

All of these concerts I think I was more excited to got hen they were..lol most of the time I just buy the tickets and then haul their butt outta class at lunch and they have no idea why until we get to the city...lol

dads music on the other hand... nope none of the kids like it... I have raised a bunch of rockers... my middle son is really into classic rock

My kids mostly listen to what I listen to, or vs versa. Metallica, Motorhead, Apocolyptica. About as pop as I go is Rufus Wainwright.

Its kinda interesting having a 'late in life kiddo'. started out at 17, had two more then nearly a 19 year gap between the first and last shocker child. (had tee shirts made when he was born: same parents, different moods.) By the time he was old enough to make up his mind over tastes in music nearly everything had re-evolved. By the time he was 16, Queen, Led Zeph, Beatles, Stones, J Cash and a whole host of others were back on the fast track of playing, or their music was being revamped. What is very cool about most of what he likes, they are blended with the games he plays, which helps us connect with a generation behind me (or more) like the 1940's music associated with some of his war games, or music that has interesting rock/opera twists. Then we have a mutual meeting ground; Adele, Florence and the Machine, Mumford and Sons, the Killers. Interestingly, we both like country, though he won't listen to it in front of his friends. I LOVE listening to the different styles of some of his stuff like from Red Vs Blue. Some of the material coming out from Japan is fantastic.

Oldest son listens to the rock I used to listen to when I was a teen and DD and youngest son listen to country so I sing along with all of it! Best of all worlds!

Mom likes some of it but dislikes others. She tends to like the classical and rock stuff I listen to, but dislikes the metal, pop (Especially the Europop style music), and OST rips.
