Absolutely. Every single one gets a name, I’m at 13 so far! I keep chickens for pets, eggs, and their poop for compost in the garden so they get to retire with me and live their full life here. It’s easy to remember them since I have different breeds and chickens of the same breed are different colors. I’m sure I’d still be able to tell chickens of the same color and breed apart since they still have small differences!

I can recognize small differences in them too. Although my chickens are all different now

My mom doesn't know how I can tell her horse from other chestnut horses but I always notice small things.

Why of course I do!?!!
I started with mixed flock so that was easy but now I have 4 white birds leghorns and Cali whites. They're a little harder but one leghorn is a sweet thing so I marked her legs with magic marker! to make sure it was the same one each time :gig and yes it is so her name changed to cuddlebug!

Yes! Always name them! I’m like @pipdzipdnreadytogo i spend a lot of time waiting for just the right name for each bird…they can be named Day 1 or take a few weeks to months till it feels right! 🙃 The ones that look almost the same get leg bands to keep track of which one was named what name till they are old enough I can pick out their habits 😁

I have renamed 2 of my chickens 3 times! 1 minute this name fits then it's totally off 😆

I just had to rename one a few days ago because I thought Larkspur would suit her and it didn't, so now she's Ottilie. :love

Also absolutely agree on picking up little differences! That's how I tell most of mine apart even after their leg bands wear out and fall off. I once had two Partridge Plymouth Rocks that no one else could tell apart but me, so I made like this little flyer that showed the differences between them and printed it out for the rest of my family. 🤣 Sadly, I lost one of them a few years back, so the flyer is no longer needed.

I thought maybe I can tell by combs but that's not working either. What do you use for leg bands?
