Do you name your chickens?

I didn't see a post about this, so I apologize if there was one before. Does anyone have name for their chickens? We have two with names. Our Big rooster's name is Punky butt. The one hen's name is BWO-It's my husbands initials. They were both named by my daughter who was 6 at the time.

Lol yeah we name most of ours. Well, ok, not most anymore, since the numbers fluctuate pretty high since we breed them to eat. There's been hundreds of names by now. It's totally not true that you can't rehome, or kill and eat them once you've named them.

We have 25 hens, and my granddaughter (pictured in my avatar) has named most of them after Disney princesses with a few super heroine and My Little Pony names thrown in.

I figured everybody did this, was I wrong? I will start with my Roos #1 is Cogburn( like the John Wayne movies) #2 is Floyd cause he's quiet the pretty boy. #3 is Blackberry my black Silkie and got his name from that big BB up on his head 12 RIR's hen's that I didn't name and can't tell EM apart 2 Americana's named Brownie & Cammo 1 RedSex Link named Squatty she is my duck/ chicken waddles as she walks 3 Barred Rock no names and 3 White Rock no names 3Silkie hen's not named yet and 24 new babies Mine free range most of the time but I can call EM up clap my hands together and they all come running to me and I walk EM to the gate going in toward the coop. Neighbors call me the pied piper!! Lol I gotta get busy and come up with more names cause my flock is about to double.

Lots of people name them, I don't because a lot of them end up in the stew pot. Generally, the rooster is called Mr Chicken if he's called anything and the hens are "the girls". With my very first birds which were straight run barred rocks I only ended up with 2 and it was Mr and Mrs Chicken. When I had guineas, the white one was called Killer, because he was the only one in the shipping box that arrived alive. He was a funny guy.

All of my chickens are pets. We get them as chicks and we keep them until they die of old age or a predator gets them. Then we get more! I love my chickens

I name all of my chickens (and ducks)! It's really cute because if they learn their name they will come running to you if you call them.
