Do you need to worm birds less than a year?

What are the symptoms of a worm infestation?

What wormers are available for chicken use? Are their any specific for chickens?

Do you have to refrain from eating eggs after you worm?

I have never wormed, and I don't know of any one that does. Does living in a cold Wisconsin climate help break the worm life cycle/prevent worm infestations?

I think I agree with you patS. I don't try to sell organic but I don't personally take any medication unless I (not my Doctor) feel it is absolutely Necessary. I just feel like there are too many medications in to many of our food.

I still would like to know how you know if your chickens even have worms. This question has been asked a lot but no answer yet.

Most likely they have worms if they are acting lethargic, hardly eating/drinking or stopped eating/drinking, stopped laying, basically not acting like a healthy chicken should. Check their poop occasionally. If you see a few worms in their poop, that means there's hundreds in their guts laying thousands of eggs to be excreted onto the ground. Then another chicken pecks the ground and the eggs are picked up, the worms lifecycle starts all over again. Eventually the chicken will die from starvation, due to the hundreds of worms stealing the nutrients.

This link was very helpful in my determination of what I should do.
It says a lot and everyone should make their decision along with their Vet.

thanks Kathy for the link
