I suffer from acid reflux, amongst other medical problems. The last time I had the colonoscopy procedure, the Dr. decided to do both the upper and lower procedures. They discovered I had some erosion of the esophogus as well as some polyps in the colon. I was originally taking rantinidine but they changed me over to another drug due to the erosion problem.
As to the pain in the shoulders and chest area and general tiredness. That is typical of the disease. Get some multiple vitamins to help with the tiredness problem, once the body starts to heal, the energy level will increase and the pain in the shoulders will decrease.
However, I would also check with the Dr. as to possible heart conditions. As my cardiologist informed me, most men in their 40's, 50's and older eventually develop some form of heart murmur. In my case I not only have the murmur, but also a prolapse mitriol valve, and have had two heart attacks.
Some of the things you have to do is restrict fryed foods in the diet as this can irritate and cause a flare up of the symptoms. Baked, Broiled or Boiled is fine as these methods help cut the fat content of foods. Especially if you have had your gall bladder removed.
I am no doctor, this is based on my own experience in dealing with the disease, but a thorough check-up wouldn't hurt.
