Do you prefer chickens or quail?

Which do you prefer and why? I want to know all the opinions, all the comparisons, etc. What's easier, what's more rewarding? I started my first flock of rainbow laying assortment hens 14 months ago. I had big plans for selling the beautiful eye catching eggs. I love my chickens, dont get me wrong, but i wasn't mentally prepared for just how messy and destructive they are. I won't pen them in a run. I personally think its nasy and inhumane. Especially with alot of chickens. When i see scarce dirt runs confining chickens, i.. i just cant do it. I prefer strictly free range. But on the other hand, the shitting all over my yard and porches is pushing my patience. As well as scratching and dust bathing everywhere. My yards suffering. I haven't dared try to start a garden or flower beds. Im overflowing with full egg cartons. I cant sell them, we dont eat eggs, it seems like such a waste. Im beginning to think quail may have been a wiser choice. Am i wrong? How do quail compare to mini velociraptors? Their temperament, their eggs, their housing, their hygiene, do they require less patience, their maintenance, anything and everything. Shoot..

I do. But the quail are much smaller, so i assume theres less mess, less maintenance, etc. My clients quail are in an elevated hutch. That i can handle.
