Do you really need to check on your chicks 5x a day?

haha, check them 5 times? Bit overboard there if you aren't already glued to them!

I've left week old chicks in a brooder over the weekend and they were fine. Just make sure they have secure food, water and heat lamp can't catch your house on fire.

If you have to leave them alone for hours then it is a good idea to raise the waterer up on brick or something so they don't kick shaving into the water so easily. They get really bad at that around 3 weeks old.
