As in another of your posts. Tattoos i have those to. Once when i was 18 my mom took me to get my first one and paid for it and got one at the same time. My body is not covered in them and i font have any i can not hide with clothes. Also all mine have meanings. I have only had tattoos done from 2 people in my life and both times i went to multiple places and viewed the portfolio of the person i was interested in having the work done by and talked to them about my idea and saw all their previous work. When it was time for the tattoo i watched them take all the needles out of sterile packages and watched them clean the gun and assemble it with gloves on. I think anyone interested in a tattoo should do that.

The only reason my mom was with me on all this was because i made A's and B's all threw school and was never in trouble so she supported me with this to a certain point. There was alot of things she told me no to and that i could not do lol. So it wasnt like i always got what i wanted.

Where did she say that? It looks like she just addressed your statement that tied clothing and lifestyle choices with uncleanliness.

When I was in school I hung out with the goths. They were some of the nicest people. Kind and not critical of others. Much, much nicer then the 'popular crowd'. You didn't have to dress like them to to friends with them. One of my best and closest friends has tons of piercings and some tats. His hair changes colors often, people see him and think 'trouble'. But he is also very kind and considerate. He helps others when he can, and hurts no one.

I'm the one with the jacked up mind. Thanks to abusive sociopaths who pretended to raise me, the society that let them keep my sisters and me, and they felt that tattoos and piercings were done by sick people. Yup, darn right. So yes, it started as a way to act out. Then it became a way I could control my life. I didn't cut myself, I didn't take pills. Then I realized along the way I like the work. So I keep adding to it.

While I'm not working now, I've worked for MANY years. In jobs where my piercings were visible. Including in hyper conservative offices. Sure, some jobs didn't hire me because of the earrings. Some jobs also didn't hire me because I barely finished HS and have 2 college classes worth of education. That's just life, and that's their loss. I found other jobs that I liked, did well in, was highly respected in and met with numerous people in daily life at some of the worst times in their lives.

I don't expect people to fit into the mold I want for life. I fail to see why others can't offer that same respect.

Hey debiraymond! I got my tattoos because I personally like them, but I know that not everyone does, so I try to respect that in certain situations... I find the artform fascinating, needles on skin is not the easiest medium. There are tattoo artists out there that do absolutely mind blowing work! (And lots that don't, of course)!

I'm an artistic type so I enjoy the idea of art on skin. ( I was a wild and crazy teenager, too, so that accounts for some of it, as well ).
