Do you think Emo/Goth kids...

I don't know very much about goth, emo, or metal music (not even sure who the founding fathers are), other than being able to indentify at least the generalized genres when listening to music, and any undertones in various punk bands. That said, I believe Rammstein is generally regarded as a metal blend, including industrial (ie. NIN is an industrial mix). Industrial originally came about from the "Industrial Records" record label though, but the term has since expanded. I often hear Nightwish being called 'gothic metal', though most seem to see it as a metal blend. scandinavian metal is especially awesome to me because they tend to incorporate old lore and beliefs into their music quite often.

the only "goth/emo" kids I knew were when I was in high school, and they were all depressed and tried to cut themselves.

The FASHION... I think is cool. I like some of the clothes.

But some of their attitudes are pathetic!

I've always thought of preppy girly girls to be the mean, untrustworthy, trash talking type. In some cases it's true. Someone might dress dark on the outside, but on the inside they're pretty cool. The girly girls I've met are jerks... They talked about everyone who was "different" very negatively. Most cases they don't even know the people. Makes them appear very ugly.

Tattoo artists have to be professional and they look however they want in their shops. I don't want some unprofessional noob tattooing a goldfish on my arm when I ask for a anthro snow leopard kissing a rose. Just saying with all the genre talk~

I voted weird. I figure just like the rest of the population, some are nice, some are mean, and the rest are somewhere in-between. It does strike me as odd, dressing that way, the dark make-up, the hair - which is why I chose weird. But the person inside the dark facade could be wonderful.

firstly, cutting isn't an emo thing, it's a mental illness thing. And that can be anyone, you can't tell who's self-harming in secret by the way they dress. I've seen goths who do and goths who don't, and fashionistas who do and some who don't. And a whole lot in between. so let's move away from that stereotype, please. Dressing a certain way or listening to certain music doesn't cause anything, as has been proven in the courts when some idiot blames their kid's suicide on the music he or she listened to rather than address the issue that their child must have been really messed up and suffering to kill themselves and the parents didn't notice or help them.

secondly, I really don't care what my doctor and bank manager wear or do out of work hours. As long as they're good at their job it really doesn't matter to me if they're in suit & tie or leathers and chains. After all, changing outfits doesn't alter their abilities. My neurologist would still have been one of the top neuro's in this country if he'd swapped out of his suit and short brown hair one day and come to the hospital wearing ripped lycra, a tutu and a feather boa! his knowledge and ability are the same whatever he's wearing. So why does it matter which style they chose to wear?

I suppose I was/am still a bit one myself.
Something I noticed in high school was that those people were usually nicer and more accepting of others than the preps and jocks.
Yeah, people look at them funny and judge you for being around them, but who cares?
If they are nice people, what does it matter?
That's my opinion, I tried all the trends, talked with all the people and the "weirdos" were my favorites.
