Do you think this is a good idea?

I am purchasing 2 baby chicks from a local breeder and he said he would sell me a Silkie hen withe them. If i give the chicks to the mother to raise would this be okay?

Doubtful. If they are not hers she won't care for them. Once they are feathered out you can put them together with little problems most likely, as she would be lonely by then.

Only if she is clearly broody, then she might accept them. Otherwise they will need to be kept separate from the silkie. Good luck and enjoy them.
