Hey everyone! This is a completely random question as it's actually pretty hot outside, but I want to hear from you guys. Do your chickens like rain? For mine, it depends - if it's sprinkling a bit, they don't mind, but if it's pouring then they all go run for cover. When it's hot sometimes I try to mist them with the hose but they run away... So no more of that. What're your thoughts?

My girls are part duck, they love to splash in a muddy puddle, actually scratch around and peck.
A shower they don't mind too much and they mosey around the pen, shaking off and dunking under cover occasionally to dry.
I hang my garden hose on the fence during a heatwave, 20170612_172828.jpg and set it to mist and the girls hangout underneath. 20170612_173425.jpg . It took around 15 minutes, but, one by one they took to it. GC

My girls are playing in the rain right now actually. They didn't get a chance to munch on the kale I threw in before it came down. -FL

For my ladies it all depends on the weather and what kind of mood they are in except for Boo who stays out in the rain even if it's a heavy downpour and throws a fit if I attempt to dry her off.
If I'm using the outside spicket and hose to clean stuff or give them fresh water and I just give the crowd of ladies a slight mist they don't mind but if the water touches Mr.Rooster he throws a hissy fit and goes running for cover. Such a chicken (Lol)!

We just got over having heavy rain and a thunderstorm- just before it ended I stepped outside and who did I see playing in the rain- none other than my BO rooster, Roo while everyone else was either inside or hiding under the coop.

Mine do too but right now the storm has picked up again and it's worse than when it began so I have a feeling that at some point the power and wifi are going to go out(thank goodness I didn't take the good heavy duty flashlight back out to the tool trailer where it belongs) so I best go lock in the chickens and gather any eggs.

I have a few brave hens who venture out in the rain, but most of them try to stay dry. in their run there are a few low places where rain often collects and creates small mud puddles. The hens will walk through them, but thats about it.

Hope the storms not too bad. Keep us posted....:)

I will as long as I have wifi.
When the snow began to melt earlier this year, I had a big lake in the yard that was kind of deep even by the house so I had put down a couple of pieces of slab wood end to end to make a small footbridge. Well, to make a long story short when the chickens were out they would form a line and follow me to drier ground. It was a sight, I was a "Mama Duck with her hatchlings"!!!:woot:thumbsup:lol:
