Do your chickens like to be sprayed with water?

We recently planted some grass seed and I was watering it to keep the ground moist. It's been 105 + degrees here, and my chickens all came and wanted in on the action. I put the sprayer on the gentle setting and the chickens were purposely getting in the water spraying from the hose. They would then start grooming and shaking the excess water off. It was the cutest thing, they really enjoyed it... maybe they will do it again this evening. If so I will try to have my DH get some pics.

Yeah, that kinda blink funny and flap around, but they seem to enjoy it. They make the geese jealous.

Mine go out in the rain all the time...doesn't seem to bother them at all. They don't have to go out in it -- they have a fairly large covered run to stay dry in....when you're hot...you're hot!

Ours will wade in the water that is coming from a GENTLY running hose, but put anything on that sprays and they are gone from sight! I don't know if it is the noise or the actual water. They were out in the rain yesterday, so go figure!

Mine chickens are currently hanging out under water misters. They love it. They get wet then go lay in the sun (silly birds) and preen until they are dry. Then they go get wet again!

It's about 104 degrees today and they aren't even panting.

It's 120 here. I WISH they would get wet, but they run like I'm throwing hawks at them. There are a lot of different breeds, and not a one of them will stand to get wet. They just stand around looking miserable, panting and holding their wings up away from their bodies. The free-range hens are definitely handling it better, as they can select the less hot areas of the yard. The roosters in the tractor will stand in the puddle I made for them, though. If I spray them, I'll have beaks stuck to the chicken wire.
