do your hens yell for treats?

uh, yep!
Mine have a tendency to knock (peck) at the kitchen door. If I open it, my two top hens come in and start helping themselves to the cat food. This is the #1 reason we are not putting in a doggie door.

Mine hear me open the back door to let the dogs out and the Roosters start crowing then the girls start. The roosters keep it up until I go out to feed them. I always carry a basket with treats, they know that basket. My, MY, I think that they are spoiled! Ya Think?

Thus far I have been able to screw up their routine. As a result they never 'ask' for treats, it's great. In stead I have trained them to come when called. A short, quick, "chick chick chick" and they come running like a bat out of heck. It took about two weeks for them to get the idea. I also put their food dish and leave it outside.

Give it a try.

lol if my girls see me driving up the driveway to the house they run in front of my truck and just stand there. it's funny because i have to stop my truck and i usually park it where i stop, so when my poor fiance gets home, he comments on my rediculous parking job. i have to explain the girls wouldn't let me pass. it's funny because it's just as bad when we try leaving the driveway. they encircle our vehicle. we can't back up or anything. sometimes one of us has to get out and coax them out of the way lol. but with 13, once one is out from behind the car there are 2 more there lol.

In the morning I go into the run to change water and put out morning treats and they go nuts in the coop. It's like they are trying to break the door down to get out. They look out the window as if to say - step on it lady we want those treats. When I finally open the door they run, fly or jump over one and other to get to the treats. They also know the squeak of the metal gate opening and rush to the corner of the run to see what I have and cuss me out if I don't have anything, especially our roo.

I love the picture. I hope they don't jump up there when you a BBQing something - it would be new meaning to a "Chicken on a hot tin roof".
