do your silkies sleep on the floor?

How old are they? Youngsters?

Depending on the individual and the age, you can usually train them to perch by providing them with a low roost, maybe a foot off the ground at the most, and putting them on it every night. Eventually, it starts to click that this is where they want to sleep and sometimes from that they'll figure out to start looking for higher perches.

Some birds just never do, though. It's not uncommon for Silkies; mine that perch seem to be in the minority for their breed.

Our five puppy pile in a corner or in a box during the night. Only one of them really gets the whole roosting thing (who is coincidentally our rooster lol) so he occasionally will roost with the big girls in the mornings. His Afro is nearly nonexistent so he can actually see up unlike most of our others which I think helps give him the confidence to try jumping up places.
