i will be taking him to petsmart on friday, he is in need of a different collar, the flat nylon one he has seems to be rubbing pretty bad, he has the starts of sores above and below and underneath the collar. poor guy. what kind of collar is best?? i was thinking maybe a rolled leather one?

Here is ours, Mesa is almost 8, a beautiful girl. A gift to my daughter when she was 11, what she had been begging for, she trained her and showed her herself, finished her championship, put a CGC (canine good citizenship) certificate on her and showed her in 4-H showmanship, obedience and agility for the last 7 years. Amazing dog!

Personally I only keep collars on my guys when they are actually working. Then I use a slip chain collar. The rest of the time they go "naked" since they only lose the dang things in the tall grass. Those sleek necks were made just to lose a collar! LOLOL I once took one of those "find your fortune on the beach" thingies out around my dog's field and came up with 6 collars they'd lost out there over one winter. Now I clip the collar to the leash and take the whole thing off when we come in. Saves a lot of hunting missing collars.

All if mine have loved the kids.....no matter what they had to endure:) They also all were very good with the chickens, rabbits, and cat. Excellent choice of dog!

I like the rolled leather collars to protect their necks, but I like the soft nylon martingale for training. It's got about 3-4" of chain on it for better control if you have a puller:)
