"You cannot insist that your chickens be allowed to eat your neighbor's plants." --- IMO, if animals did something that it is not immoral, and the damage is minor, which is like cutting a human hair which can regrow, then there shouldn't be a problem about it, especially if it is done rarely and the owner of the animals doesn't want it to happen.I let the insects that I see eat some leaves of the plants in my parents property. They need it in order to survive, and it is part of peaceful coexistence. The plant will just replaced them or it will regrow fast. Insects are everywhere, and it is seemingly unavoidable, that some of the leaves will get eaten by insects. However, some people curses just because of that.It would be helpful if you would put your location in your avatar area because that makes a difference in helping us help you in many situations, whether predators or diseases.
Because animals are domesticated, not wild. They are not wild animals that have a need to roam free. We do have dominion over domesticated animals, for their protection and our protection as well.
You said you know the law, but you also asked if it was legal for your neighbor to kill your chickens on the neighbor's property so apparently, you do not know the law. It would be to your advantage to find out. There are laws in most states about containing animals on your own property so they are not a nuisance to your neighbors.
And I have dominion not only my own animals, but over my own property. YOU may allow YOUR animals whatever freedom you like on YOUR property, but not MY property. It's that simple, really. What you value in the way of plant life may not be the same as what your neighbor values. It is never your right to decide what is of value on your neighbor's property. What is minor to you may not be minor to your neighbor. You cannot insist that your chickens be allowed to eat your neighbor's plants. I do not understand why you think you have that right, quite honestly.
NOW, back to the original question. The original question is if the neighbor has the right to kill your birds if they go onto his/her property. Find out the laws in your locale. They are probably online. If not, call the local township/city officials and ask about the law. I don't know the answer to that for you. DID your neighbor have anything to do with the chick disappearing? I have no idea and neither do you.
I think we've beat this subject to death and you are not hearing us. Not sure there is much else I can say about it.![]()
"It is never your right to decide what is of value on your neighbor's property" -- I assume that you mean all life forms in my neighbor's property.
People have dominion over life forms on earth, but I don't think that right should be abused, like what is going on today. People want a good leader, not someone who kills them or do something negative to make sure that what they want happens. Other life forms, too wanted us to treat them with love and kindness, and be a good leader. Through law, It is true that I have no right to let my chickens eat a few parts of his/her plants since it is their property. Since the owner have all the rights to all life forms in their property, should the owner also disregard the right of other life forms to eat some leaves of their plants? IMO, to minimize it from happening again, my neighbor kills them, like what majority of people do. In that case, the plant is really important to the neighbor, and it must be protected, which means killing some life forms that eat it. From what I understand, because people have dominion over life forms, it is their right to decide the value of the life forms, and no one has the right to make sure that other life forms should exist peacefully with them, if they decided, that they have no value and/or they must die. I hear that some people say that it is on my property, so I have the right to do whatever whatever I want to do with them. It is estimated that the universe is more than 13 billion years old. There are trillions if not billions of stars in the universe and there are billions of galaxies in the universe. So it is extremely likely that an intelligent life form exist somewhere out there. The angels in the bible are superior in intelligence even when comparing it to the intelligence of even the brightest human. They may well be likely found among those stars. Now, Imagine that you get transported to an alien planet, and the only food source out there are the plants of the alien. However, the alien considers the plant as more valuable than you. Because you are so hungry, you try to eat the plant. The following day, the alien found out what you did, and because you have no value to it, or will continue to eat the plant, it decided to try to kill you. But wait, another alien tried to stop the alien and instead, offer you food and home on his/her property. If it is true indeed, and it is fully implemented, that it is never someone else right to decide the value on their neighbors property, then there is really no way the human can be saved from death by the alien. The human and the alien in the example, is like the insects and the human in real world. Rights, just like freedom should have a limit, and if it is abused, outside interference is necessary. I like the animal rights activist, vegetarians and vegans, because they really care about the animals.
