hello,

i have previously tried to hatch 18 eggs in a 24-egg incubator 3 times at a temp of 37.6 degrees C
each time i got quite a bad hatch rate, is it possible that the smaller number of eggs than the incubator is meant for
is affecting the temperature on each one?
should i put a full 24 eggs in next time to make sure the temp is right for each egg

It probably has nothing to do with it, but i just want to make sure...
thanks! :)

In a well designed incubator the temperature should remain evenly distributed throughout so the number of eggs should not make any difference.

Do you have a secondary calibrated thermometer to check against the incubator readout? Since you've experienced poor hatches already I would think that would be a good first step to see if it's the temperature that's the issue. You can also rotate your eggs around the incubator to make up for any hot/cold spots. Can you describe what goes wrong in the hatches? That may also help to get to the bottom of the issue.

Here's am article on how to calibrate a thermometer.

yes that is what im doing now...
the humidity seems to be fine (the incubator shows the 50% and the thermohygrometer 51%
but the temperature on the incubator is showing 37.6 C while the thermohygrometer is showing 35.6 C

i will need a third thermometer before i start meddling about with the incubator though, as the thermo-hygrometer might be wrong.
