I second that-- we used a regular 125 watt white light because the only red one we found was 250 watts and its the middle of summer (90's) and I didnt want fried chickens-- and it worked great-- they really didnt huddle near it after week 2 and they are fine and healthy (ok I have one weird one that insists on bathing in his mash but that is another Thread).... go for it!A regular 25 W household bulb, which is what the link is showing even tho it's red, won't produce enuf heat. There are people on here who will tell you you HAVE to use RED!!! I'm here to tell you, NO YOU DON'T. I have never used anything but a standard household 100W WHITE bulb & all of my babies have done FABULOUS. No feather picking, they sleep at night like normal chickens, NOT neurotic, etc. etc. etc. Just go buy yourself a 4 pack of 100W household bulbs for $1.25 at Wal-Mart & save a TON of money & headaches.
