Does anthing "shock" you anymore?

I am occasionally disgusted, rarely pleased, but I haven't been shocked by anything in the news for decades.

I donno about shock, but no matter how many cases of abuse, neglect, murder, etc I hear about I'm still disgusted, disappointed in our species, etc... can't really claim shock, that would require it being something NEW and pretty well every atrocity has been done (over and over) in our history... but plenty of feelings still.

Nothing much shocks me I'm too old saddens me but not shocks me. Guess we are all getting to numb. Well the only thing I can say shocks me is if I get up in the morning and nothing hurts, well then makes me wonder if I'm dead

No, I'm like an old horse; I've pretty much seen anything that would startle me, so I'm safe for even children...

Not numb I'd say... things still elicit emotion, anger, sadness, etc... it's just not a surprise as much.

Kinda like knowing you'll get flowers for your anny... you know you'll get them, 'cuz that's just what your DH does every year... so it's not the same as DH randomly bringing home flowers (okay what'd you do jokes aside)... not a surprise... but both still make you happy.

Nothing really shocks me anymore, but I sure do get disgusted quite a bit.

The last time I was shocked was when my then-husband (#1) actually said something original. He was simple. I was young. But until that particular moment, he'd never said ANYTHING I hadn't already considered, thought about, mused upon, or read somewhere else. Then kaPOW - he said something so original, I was truly, truly shocked.

I don't even remember what it was he said - after all, it was pretty close to 40 years ago, when I was 17. But I remember the shock coursing through my body!
