Yes, large and bantam.

Blue Barred is a project colour. You could attempt to make it over there with your own stock - though not sure how. nicalandia would be who you would ask how.

I've ended up with ghost barring (white with light cream barring) but never anything as cool as blue barred.

I breed partridge Cochin (Standard)

Sorry OP! I did warn you I have only kept chickens for a few months! I didn't notice the feathered feet on the first ones. We have pekin (cochin) millefleur bantams at home and they just looked so fluffy that I thought they were orps! Thats why you need the pros to answer! Learn something new every day.

Did you know Cochins (Pekins) were used to make the Orp? Probably why it looked so similar to you. Orps look a lot like cochins without feathered legs (and with more of a tail), but orps have white/pink legs and feet, and cochins have yellow (under the fluff).

You're right. I'm looking it up and Pekins have a few differences than cochins.

P
ekin Bantams are true bantams, they have no large counterpart. They were originally Cochin Bantams when they arrived in the UK, however they had no relationship to large Cochins and looked quite different. They came from a different place (Peking in China) so after much debate over many years, they were renamed as 'Pekin Bantams'. Around the rest of the World, Cochin Bantams are similar in appearance to the British Pekin Bantams although breed standards are slightly different.

The first (Buff) Cochin Bantam were originally thought to have been found in Peking in the gardens of the Emperor's palace that was looted in 1859 by some of the 11'000 British and 6'700 strong French forces during the opium wars. Further birds were imported in later years and further colours followed, some, like the white being from white 'sports' that hatched from Buffs, crossed with white Booted Bantams.

Having seen the picture of the lavendar cuckoo it looks like it has a conplete different base colour ti thr blue barred at the top of this thread. They do look actually blue were as the lavendars are more grey
