Does any one else wish BYC had spell check?

Although some of the posts are hard to read sometimes, I do realize that people are from all walks of life and from different countries. And some people just are informal online. It's just the way it is. So I just try to read the posts without being distracted by no puncutation, misspellings and using the wrong words. I give it three times, and then if I still don't get it, I move on.

May I ask something?

If people do not have their "mistakes" pointed out to them, how can they improve?

The pointers do not have to be asses about it, in fact should NOT be. But aren't we trying to help one another? Shouldn't we be concerned enough to see others doing their best?

I think u r looking for a spelling forum. Actually sometimes I like the word puzzle game, makes me laugh. It is very hard to have an accent and spell correctly. Yall. LOL Have seen many a conversations die from a spelling genius.

Okay, good point and well said.

I do differ on those who think we should have to decipher them, simply because they have not made the effort to get it right. That strikes me as selfish and in that case I don't mind daring, although not insultingly.

Normally, though, I don't bother. Occasionally it is helpful to the discussion at hand to make a correction, especially when the wrong usage can lead to equally wrong conclusions.
Then I just do it in reply and not make a scene about it.

For all other cases, there is Firefox. And wouldn't it be cool if BYC had its own spell check?

I once led an entire courtroom to the wrong conclusion. Having reviewed files late into the night, I had written up a charge sheet after I spell checked it and changed any silly mistakes, then filed it with the court.

When I walked into court the next day, a very amused court usher informed me that the Judge wanted to know why my client was pleading guilty to 'Driving Erotically' (He was actually driving erratically)... boy did I get some grief about that!

It did however teach me to be more careful of what I was accepting as a change on the spell checker!
