I hear all these cute names, and I do have names for a select few favorites, but I have 28 laying hens and really have no desire or inclination to name them even tho I aore them and talk to them all. Anyone else not name their chooks?

I'm with you. I have a few with names just because they have made themselves significant in some way or other. As far as naming them all....NO, I can barely keep my kids names straight some days!

Our layers get names if they 'earn' them. For example, chicken with arthritic leg is 'Gimpy'...
Its easier to eat 'that silver laced bird over there' than to eat 'Daisy' or 'Millie'

We do name our breeders tho just cause the kids remember names better than breeds so when they are helping me it makes communicating easier.

Ive got a hundred chickens and 20 turkeys, I don't have time to name and surely not to remember their names. I know which ones are sweet and which ones not to turn my back to though LOL!!

mostly no names here...a few cuz they earn it but mostly no

kinda like cattle...there are always a few that get a name...star or such...my boys have a cow on their grandfather's place and they have names along with a few others...snake bite being one

I have Stew #1, Stew #2, Stew #3, Stew #4........soon to be Stew #5, Stew #6, Stew #7. I also have Blind Chicken......I named the first two chickens I ever got Stew and Crockpot. Both were RIR. Crockpot met his maker and Stew became Stew #1....every other RIR I have ever had has become Stew # something. Have 4 RIR hens now (hence 1-4), and 3 RIR pullets (soon to be 5-7).

Everyone else is "chicken". White chicken, brown chicken, mean chicken, wimpy chicken, blue chicken, etc. Chickens and "girls" are what I like to call them

Exactly. I have a Gimpy as well.

I also NEVER name them until they lay an egg. It is like ASKING for them to die.

All of the roos have names and all of the turkeys have names but only a few of my favorites (like my little avatar over there) have names. I just have too many hens to name them all and quite frankly some of them look so similar I'd be hard pressed to figure out who they were if they did have names.
