chicks are not dyed only for fun or as a selling point. they are dyed many times for research, to be studied. easily grouped or to stand out. leg bands would not be as easily seen.

the OP simply wanted to know HOW it is done, not if it is safe, cruel, politically correct etc.

im gonna try dying her ^^^^ pink

Thank you and I never said I was going to sell them. I just thought it might be a cool thing for easter to show my kids school friends.. I would keep them myself!

ask for being cruel... MY GOD its a colored chicken. what is so cruel about that? are all the other chickens in the coop gonna make fun of them.

And I cant stand it when people tell me to calm down. I am not upset. its just irritating to sit here and ask a simple question and feel as if I am being attacked for it...some poeple think its cruel to raise chickens and eat thier eggs..... I eat chickens too is that politically uncorrect? I heard some of you talking about putting packing peanuts in the pot.... how come no one chimed in and said that was cruel? I mean the only thing they did wrong was they were put in the box right.... I thought this was a forum where flaming wouldnt be allowed. yet I get flamed for asking how to dye a chick....

I am gonna have to check triD out this spring.

okay now...calm down!!....heehe...just messing with ya!....the only problem i see with this IS....i believe you have to inject the dye pretty late in the incubation period...and so..i would not want to risk its life just for a cute color....its differant to kill something to eat it...so its not wasteful and all..BUT...to risk its life for a color....

...just not worth it to me....BUT...its a free world(last time i came out of my cave and checked)..so..do what you want....

hey there! So you're planning on doing it with button quails eggie poos? if so, if you're going to do the needle-egg method I wish you all the best of pacience and steady hand....i'd be so scared to do that to a button egg their shells are so thin. The other thing i wonder about is depending on teh color of the chicks, the colors maynot show anyhow??? I'm not for or against it myself....i just wouldnt want to see you losing a bunch of chicks. Wishing you all the bestest of luck!
