Hi there;
I just wanted to know whether anyone eats their Sebright Chickens?
I have many culls and don't want to waste them. Just wanted to know if they are edible like a type of spatchcock?
If anyone eats them do you have any photos of the carcass and what do they taste like?
Thanks

I don't see why not. They're plump little birds. They'd be perfect for a single person, or used as soup.

Chicken is chicken. All edible. The trick is cooking methods according to age of bird. I assume you're past broiling and likely into roasting age or even stew only.

Let the carcass rest in fridge for two days prior to cooking until rigor passes. Joints will be flexible again. If the bird is under 9 months old it can be roasted. If older then a moist cooking method like stewing- don't let water boil, simmer at most, or crock pot. If under 18 weeks you can southern fry.

@Faraday40 didn't you have some?
Yes. I still have my "Trouble." She's old but still a feisty little thing!

I never ate a Sebright, but I have culled and eaten Seramas. Not much meat on the bantams but more than quail.
