when i use my own eggs i make around 25 to 30 dollars for every batch i hatch what about you guys they pay for me to buy more eggs <3

I hatched everything I could get my hands on last year & supplied 2 feedstores. After expenses, I made about $250 a month, for about 4 months. Totaled a little over $1000.

Ha, not in the backwoods of Arkansas!

If I sell my eggs for eating I get $2-3/dozen. If I incubate them, let's say 80% hatch rate...maybe 9 eggs hatch. 5 are roos at $1 each, 4 are pullets at $4 each = $21. I generally breed sexlinks so I know gender when they hatch. And I find it depends on the year. This year I can't seem to give chicks away. Last year I couldn't hatch enough.

I am told in NC that the locals are having trouble finding chicks. Except for TSC and some of the older feed stores I have seen few for sale.

Hard to make money selling chicks unless you can sell them for about $3 each. You have to count that your own eggs will sell for about $2.50 per dozen just as eating eggs then you have to count that you have to incubate them for a month and the expense of electricity. Then on top of that you only get a percent hatch. I've decided it is best for me to sell eating eggs and only hatch for myself.

There is a little more money to be made at month 4 you can sell the pullets for about $6 to $8. each. I've put numbers together and I make about $2.50 per chicken after feed expenses and counting that each chick was worth about $1 each or at least cost that much to hatch. I use this to cull my chickens down to the ones I want to keep. Most folks only need egg layers or eating chickens so it is a pretty great deal for me.

I wish you luck with your venture though.

Dave
