Does anyone else train their roosters to go into a roost box at night?

never heard of a roosting box and mine crow all night cuz everytime i fix my timer somebody unplugs it but my roosters are quiet and i cant hear them up in my room specially with the tv on while i sleep

Well...when I have to bring my serama pair in because of super cold weather, they sleep in a cat carrier. My roo starts crowing at 5:00 a.m. I've heard that if you put them in a box that they can't stand up in, they don't crow. I'm seriously considering a smaller box for the sleep ins.

...or taping up his little beak when I go to bed.

Dose anybody have designs of roosting boxes they've built? Very interesting concept and one I'm considering when I get more birds.

Basically just a big nesting box that you can close up after they enter.
Mine still crow in the morning but it seems only about 1/4 as loud through the plywood.
The box could be insulated if anyone wanted complete silence, just allow for some ventilation.

Instead of taking away his headroom, maybe a thicker box might reduce the noise to where it's not a bother?

I started doing this when a hen decided to nest in a washing machine sized box that I had built for some goats to play on. The rooster would follow her and the chicks into there at night. It became a routine and now I do something similar with all roos.

My next roost box will be a combo nesting/roosting box with a low perch in the higher front part and a 3/4 wall separating it from the nest area.

my guy just goes in the roost with his hens! He crows at night too but I don't care. Our neighbors dogs bark all night so I am waiting on them to be stupid and make my rooster an issue. We have no laws regarding roosters, yes I checked before I ordered him>

I don't hear my roos crow this time of year. They are in the coop until being let out and the windows are all shut on the house so I don't hear them. In the summer I hear them a little more but nothing to wake me. I don't hear them at night unless the light on the end of the house is on, it faces their coop.

I like the boys being able to roost with their girls. They are used to that. The girls like to snuggle up with them at night. It's cute.
