Does anyone else's PVC feeder "sweat" ? *pic added*

I built mine out of 5 gallon buckets with the lids I dont have the ventaltion problem or the sweat. I place all my feeders under a leanto so that it dont get wet and the sun does not bake it. You could plant a tree next to the feeder for shade?

Whats killing me is that its sweats and its empty.....unless the feed in the trough is releasing the moisture into the tower pipe......
....that is preparing for launch !

Is there a roof that is dripping condensation in the morning over the feed pipe cooling it down and then it condensates as it is heated up by the sun ?

Ok here goes.

I am going to explain and then give you pics.

Take a 5 gal. bucket stand it upright. Get a spade drill 1" - 1 1/4" and drill 5 holes on the sides at the bottom equally spaced.

Then flip the bucket over. Take a metal pan that is bigger in diameter and with a 3" lip and center on the bucket and screw it together.

Flip back over fill with feed and place the lid on the bucket.

I have 3 bucket of food for them.

I also made my waterers out of 5 gallon buckets.

If it has been raining or humid it can help make things worse.

You could aways drill a hole in the side by your lid and cover it with screen to vent it to see if that will work.

I would drill some small holes in the stack pipe about 1/4" under the pipe cap to let the moisture escape, but small enough that rain wont go in. 1/8" or less.

You could always screw something to the cap so that you can have double protection against rain.

I would follow JOEY7319's advice.
Make some breather holes. Don't worry about bugs. More would be attracted to moisture and micro bits of food anyway.
Having to fill the tray defeats the purpose (convenience) of the feed holding tube. I suggested that to my DH after we found the tube feeder not allowing feed to flow into tray at 90 degree angle.
Answer? We angled the whole system (re hung so tube would be at 45 degree counter-clockwise) so that gravity would move the feed down to the left mounted tray. Works like a charm now.
