Does anyone ever just take a "lazy" day?

Good for you. I think I need to learn to take lazy days. I never do, but I think I would be a better and more productive person over all if I did. I find it almost impossible not to 'do stuff'.

Wish I could, but too many birds to take care of, the family's got to eat, and the list of things I'm way behind on never seems to get any shorter.

.....Alan.

When my DH is on a business trip, it's usually for 7-10days and covers a weekend, so one of those weekend days I sometimes do NOTHING!!

Lazy days are just a necessity once in awhile! I insist on Mothers Day being my lazy day every year- I get to do whatever I want, sleep or be busy, my choice. With all that we all do and all the pressures of life, we all need a day off.

I say enjoy it!!

DO NOT FEEL GUILTY! okay easier said than done. we are mothers we are pet owners we work 15 different jobs a day and if we are not being productive for a moment we feel we have somehow failed. the superwoman complex right? men get it too i am sure. here is the thing. we ecourage our children to have playtime it is good for the soul right to have recess good for the mind too. and yet even while we kick our feet up instead of enjoying that time off we think of all the things we should be doing. It will be there later i promise. but if you run yourself ragged you may not be. when you take a moment to yourself be it an hour or a day relish it. delight in the time you have and when you start to feel guilty stop yourself. this will feel strange a first and will not be easy... you are probably having anxiety just thinking about it. but it needs to happen. then when that time is up you will look back on it and know that it was not wasted time it was invested time. time invested in yourself is well spent. you will feel the refreshed and revitalized energy you clearly need. we get to be human and we get to take time for ourselves. that is not selfish or crazy or lazy it is important. if you are like me you are a plate spinner at life... dont drop the plates keep them spinning go go faster faster why cant i do more?.... wow what pressure! it is okay to set the plates down and come back to them in a day, two days, a week or just an hour. if it helps schedule that time out so you feel better about taking it. but remember the most important thing is to stop yourself from the guilt. it only hurts you and then your not enjoying the time you have. and what a waste that is right?

funny quote:
Procastination: hard work pays off over time but laziness always pays off right now

i should mention i have taken a lazy day myself today. ahh it is so nice. my health got bad recently like over last year or so and i have had to learn how to allow myself to take time to enjoy a good book or a cup of tea or a bath. it is funny how sickness will allow to realize what is important and what is not.

We all need a lazy day now and then. It gives a body some time to recharge one's batteries. My dd took the day off school yesterday to rest up. She did clean up and mow, but that was after she slept in. She runs so hard, day after day, going top speed, so she needed that.

My ds is taking today off as he is really sick with double ear infections, one bleeding. Sometimes you just need it. Feel no guilt-you'll be up and raring to get back in the race tomorrow.

Not often, but on the rare occasion that I do take a lazy day (which usually falls on a Saturday because I work FT Mon-Fri an hour from home and have church activities on Sundays) I dont feel guilty because we are SO busy that I deserve to have a day to myself from time to time. But, I also have Wine Club one Wed a month and get my hair cut after work once a month and on those nights DH takes care of the kids himself so I get a little lazy time then too. I deserve some tonight because I nearly killed myself moving my new furniture in the house last night!
