Does anyone give scratch grains or wild bird food to their quail?

Been thinking about picking up some scratch grains or wild bird food for the cots. Does anyone else do this here?

If so are there any brands you can recomend? What type of wild bird food would be best?

They are on Purina Game Bird Layena and Breeder right now with no extra "treats"

Yes, I feed my quail wild bird seeds but that isn't the only things they eat. They also have chicken crumbles, insects, and plants/grass to supplement.

Absolutely! I mix scratch, finch seed, cockatiel fruit and nut blend seeds, and blend of conditioning and molting seeds. I also throw a handful of hulled sunflower seeds. I mix all this together and the quail love it. My birds also love pumpkin seeds, quinoa and flax seeds. Quail will eat nearly any seed small enough.

Thanks for the help guys. Any brand of bird seed you recomend?

I'm guessing sunflower seeds would have to be hulled. My sunflower crop is coming in the next week or two!

:/ I tried mixing in a good wild bird seed mix and the quail never ate any of it. I put the used quail sand out to the chickens so they ate the seed at least it didn't go to waste, but I stopped mixing it in because it was just another expense and I had to clean cages more often.

When they are very young I worry about decreasing their protein intake if I give them too many extras, but once they get their feathers I've been giving them "no mess" mix, I think that's what it's called. It has hulled sunflowers as well as millet, cracked corn and a few other things. The protein content is supposed to be at least 16%. I also have been throwing clover seed and buckwheat seed in the flight pen hoping it'd grow and give them more cover, but it seems to all get eaten before it has a chance to sprout. Ragweed seed is supposed to be a good quail food and is about ready to harvest now, if you can stand the pollen.
