Does Anyone Have A Kindle Or Similar E-Book Reader?

I love having an actual book in my hands; I just like the look, feel, and smell of a good book. I like to take books with me everywhere I go, and often don't have the money for some of the more expensive hardback books I want to read. I was told about the Kindle, and it sounds really nice, but I'm just not sure. Its expensive, and I want to make sure its something I will enjoy if I get one.

I'm also cautious because Barnes and Noble is putting an E-book reader called the "nook" out this month, and Apple is coming out with an Itablet next year. I want something good quality that will last a long time, and I want to be able to get the book I want, even if they aren't extremely popular.

Has anyone had a Kindle and can give a review on it? Maybe just a suggestion?

I have a BeBook and it is the best! I just love that thing, it can hold thousands of books. No flickering screen, easy to read.

I heard there were a few kinks in them still. Even if I could afford it, I'd wait a year or two.
I like the old fashioned books too. I'd kill to have a Barnes & Noble or something around here. Ahhh the sacrifices we make.....

I liked the idea of the Kindle, for traveling with multiple books, until I heard they can access it and take out books if they want (like if they find out they had no right to sell a certain 'book' in the first place). Too much 'big brother' for me.
Bebook? Wazzat?

I just ordered a Kindle yesterday for DH's birthday next week. Sorry, I don't know much about it-he did the research. He looked at Sony's version and said it wasn't nearly as nice as the kindle though.

The BeBook website is www.mybebook.com if you want to read about all the great features. What I really love is that you never have to turn it off! Really! I've owned mine for two months and have never turned off the power. And nobody can remove books from it remotely, unlike the Kindle.
I could bore you all for hours praising that thing.
My dad has one too so mine isn't the only good one!

I WISH I had a kindle. We bought my Mom one, (all of us kids, not just my husband and I) for her birthday this year. I can't wait until I can get one for myself someday.

My problem with ebooks is they're so expensive: the reader itself costs hundreds and each book costs $10!

Between the library, www.paperbackswap.com, and used bookstores, my books are free or very cheap. I read A LOT, sometimes as much as a novel a day and at $10 a pop - Yikes!!! I have literally thousands of books in this house!

When they come out with a set price for the reader and all the books I want are free....well sign me up!!
